about
first original demo. written, performed, recorded and mixed by me.
written in January 2019.
this song is about the early stages after a relationship ends, where you're still trying to be friends. We've all been here once or twice, and one person is usually holding on a little bit tighter to the hopes that something will change, and they can be together again. It's about hanging out, and trying to act "normal". LIke "hey, we've shown our souls to one another and connected super hard, probably seen each other naked, but sure we can totally be platonic now". It's hard, and uncomfortable, and when you're in this situation still wanting to be with that person, you'd rip out your heart and give it to them if you knew it'd change things, all the while wishing they'd just come back to you.
since this was written, the pain has numbed, and i've managed to stay friends with the person this was written about. we still hang out, on his couch, not touching.
lyrics
never wanted to be another warm body
you didn't want me, so i turned to somebody else
come back to me
i'll be right where you left me
say you want me too
life sucks without you
here we are again, pretending we're just friends
sitting on your couch making sure not to touch
come back to me
ill be right where you left me
say you want me too
life sucks without you
life without you
has been one of the hardest things ive had to do
why can't you see
how much you mean to me
come back to me
ill be right where you left me
say you want me too
life sucks without you
